The accomplishments of local athletes who recently competed at the CARIFTA Games will be celebrated tomorrow, Thursday, April 15, when the Ministry of Sports hosts a reception for them at Hilton Barbados.

About 200 persons, including the athletes’ parents, others involved in the sports community and governmental officials are expected to be in attendance.

During the two-hour event, which starts at 7:00 p.m., Minister of Sports, Stephen Lashley; President of the Barbados Swimming Association, Sonia O’Neal; and a representative from the Amateur Athletic Association of Barbados will deliver remarks.

The 39th CARIFTA Games were held over the Easter weekend. The track and field meets were held in the Cayman Islands and the athletes won 18 medals – three gold, seven silver and eight bronze; while the swimming meet was in Jamaica and the swimmers received 48 medals – 20 gold, 21 silver and seven bronze.
