Regional Museum Symposium To Be Held At Month-End

Caribbean Curatorship and National Identity’ will be the focus of a regional symposium which will get under way at month-end.

The 21st Annual General Meeting and Conference of the Museums Association of the Caribbean (MAC) will run from Monday, November 30, to Wednesday, December 2, at the Accra Beach Hotel.

It will be held in conjunction with Museums Association of the Caribbean, the National Art Gallery Committee (NAGC), the International Curators Forum and the International Council of Museums.

Some 200 delegates are expected for the meeting, which will explore several pertinent cultural themes, in particular, how the heritage of the enslaved is being treated in the Atlantic.

According to officials of the NAGC, "Caribbean Curatorship and National Identity is an examination of how history is interpreted and heritage is shaped by communal memory for audiences, old and new, local and foreign."

All Barbadians are invited to attend the symposium and give their views on these critical issues.
