Interested persons are invited to register now for a seminar entitled: ???Dementia: Can We Reduce The Risk???? which will be hosted by the Barbados Alzheimer???s Association in collaboration with the National Committee on Ageing on Wednesday, September 24.

The seminar, which will be held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St. Michael, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., is open to everyone. A special invitation is extended to health and social care professionals as well as caregivers.

Speakers will include Dale Goldhawk, a Canadian broadcaster and Board member of the Alzheimer???s Society Canada and Mike Splaine, an advocate for health and long term care issues in Canada.

To register and for more information, interested persons may call the Barbados Alzheimer???s Association at 429-8077 or visit its offices at Strathclyde Crescent, St. Michael.??The seminar is one of several activities being held to observe World Alzheimer???s Day on Sunday, September 21.

Other activities include an Open House at the Association???s headquarters on Friday, September 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., a health fair in Independence Square, Bridgetown on Saturday, September 13 and a public lecture and panel discussion on dementia at Solidarity House, Harmony Hall, St. Michael on Thursday, September 25, starting at 7:00 p.m.
