Minister of Industry, Small Business and Rural Development, Denis Kellman

The Ministry of Industry, Small Business and Rural Development is seeking to promote industrial development across the island.

To this end, a Manufacturers’ Forum will be held on Wednesday, October 10, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St. Michael, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The Forum, which is free to the public, will be staged under the theme Industrial Policy and National Development – A Developmental Agenda.

According to a Ministry official, "Industrial development is an integral and important part of the Government’s overall strategy…to be achieved through transforming Barbados into a modern and industrial country through, among other things, the re-allocation of national resources to areas of private sector investment that push capitalist industrialisation and manufacturing."

The event will be addressed by Minister Denis Kellman and guest speaker Dr. Paul Pounder, while presentations will also be made by representatives of the Barbados Investment Development Corporation, the Barbados Manufacturers’ Association and the Ministry.

Persons who are interested in registering for the Forum, or who wish to obtain further information, may contact Psyche Burke at 417-3120 or email bds.industry@gmail.com.
