A major consultancy intended to improve the effectiveness of schools will be launched this Friday, February 6.

The official launch of The Consultancy Services for the Development of a School Location Plan with School Mapping Model will take place at Courtyard by Marriott, Garrison Historic Area, Hastings, Christ Church.

The development of a school location plan is a key component of the Education Sector Enhancement Programme (ESEP) II, being undertaken by the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation and the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).

ESEP II supports the Ministry???s efforts to enhance the teaching and learning environments across the education system, as well as the building of capacity at the Erdiston Teachers??? Training College in the area of school effectiveness.

The objective of the upcoming consultancy is to assist the Ministry with the development of an up-to-date school location plan and a school mapping model that would inform the Ministry???s development planning for improved equitable access to Early Childhood Development and basic education programmes.

The consultancy could result in the future construction of new schools; the expansion of existing schools; or the relocation and/or amalgamation of existing schools.

Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry, Senator Harcourt Husbands, will deliver the feature address, while the Operations Officer ??? Education, with the CDB, Dr. Martin Baptiste, and a representative of the Consultants, GeoTechVision Enterprises Limited, will deliver remarks.
