Commonwealth Secretary General, Kamalesh Sharma, is looking forward to the Heads of Government Meeting schedule to start tomorrow, Thursday, July 2.

Speaking briefly after his arrival at the Grantley Adams International Airport last night, Mr. Sharma said he was particularly looking forward to meetings scheduled with Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave, Prime Minister Freundel Stuart and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean.

???I look forward to calling on the GG and the PM and Foreign Minister and to see what is it that together, in partnership bilaterally, what further work could be done between the commonwealth, the larger commonwealth family and Barbados,??? he said.

Noting it was a pleasure to be invited to the CARICOM meeting, the Secretary General said the Commonwealth was consciously trying to make the next summit of the Commonwealth in Malta, in November, ???a small state summit???, under the theme: Adding Global Value.

He explained that the Commonwealth also worked with the peculiarities of small states, recognising that they were equal co-sharers of the larger world.??Mr. Sharma added that many initiatives were expected to emerge from the upcoming summit, and his presence at CARICOM would give him the opportunity to brief the various Heads of Government.
