The selection process for local senior athletes who will be participating in this year???s Huntsman World Senior Games in Utah will now be more transparent.

That is the assurance coming from the Acting Minister of Social Care, Patrick Todd.?? He was at the time addressing the National Senior Games??? Awards Ceremony, held at the Hugh Springer Auditorium, Solidarity House, last weekend.

He noted that Barbadian athletes had consistently performed ???exceptionally well??? at these Games, and that the Ministry, in conjunction with other associated agencies, would continue to render assistance to facilitate Barbados’ presence and participation at these Games.?? He said: ???This year the Ministry will have more direct oversight in the selection process.

???It will be transparent and based on a clearly enunciated set of criteria that meet both the international standards and those set by the Utah Games’ organisers. The ultimate aim is to facilitate the selection of the best team possible to wear Barbados’ colours in Utah.???? Athletes will be fully informed concerning the details shortly,??? Mr. Todd promised.

In previous years, some athletes had expressed concern about the selection process.??
