The need for a greater understanding of human rights and its associated policies, and the importance of buy-in from ministries, were among the areas discussed, when Head of Human Rights at the Commonwealth Secretariat, Karen McKenzie, paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean.

During the meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently, the two officials discussed the importance of a standardised method of collating information on human rights across ministries on a consistent basis.

In turn, Senator McClean suggested to Ms. McKenzie that the issue of providing technical assistance for the design of a reporting template should be explored, as it related to generating information for several users.??The two officials also conversed on others areas, including the proposed development of a public awareness programme for the Ombudsman.
