The Silver Hill Road Tennis Tournament is back for a fifth year.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, Stephen Lashley, made this announcement on Wednesday while addressing the media at the press launch of the upcoming tournament.

According to the Minister, the tournament, which begins on Sunday, February 12, has been well received by members of that Christ Church community. He noted that it fit with the Division of Youth’s strategy of using sports as a means of “incorporating a holistic approach to the development of young people”.

He added that the youth development initiative needed to be undertaken in more communities across the island.

The tournament will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Silver Hill Hard Court, Silver Hill, and will continue every Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday until March 4. It will now comprise four divisions: Men Open, Silver Hill Developmental, Under-17 and the Women’s Division.

Mr. Lashley then disclosed that the post-game results would be available at the Division of Youth Affairs’ Facebook page, divisionofyouthbarbados, and its Instagram page, @divyouth246, while the semi-finals and finals will be streamed live on the division of youth’s website www.youthaffairs.gov.bb.
