Government is inviting tenders from eligible firms from member countries of the Inter-American Development Bank to undertake a consultancy to construct new facilities at the Barbados National Standards Institution (BNSI).
The assignment is for 18 months and would involve the preparation of a master plan for the construction of a modern quality infrastructure laboratory complex and administrative headquarters for the BNSI.
According to Coordinator of the Modernisation of the Barbados National Standards System Project, Fabian Griffin, the consultancy would entail: the creation of architectural and engineering designs for the development of administrative headquarters and a quality infrastructure laboratory complex; outlining equipment specification requirements inclusive of laboratory equipment and information technology; formulation of tender documents for the procurement of a building contractor and supervision of the construction process.
Interested firms must show evidence of undertaking work of this magnitude by submitting suitable references and work samples.?? In addition, firms should demonstrate expertise in architectural and engineering designs for quality infrastructure laboratories, as well as a proven track record in the management of construction of such facilities.

Interested firms will be required to submit two copies of proposals marked "Expressions of Interest – Consultancy for the Preparation of a Master Plan for the Construction of Administrative Headquarters and a Laboratory Complex".
