Thirteen Barbadians will leave the island on Wednesday, November 6 to take up jobs in Alberta, Canada.

They are the first set of workers who will be employed on two-year contracts with a popular fast food chain in Canada. The opportunity was facilitated by the Diamond Global Recruitment Group, the Barbados Liaison Service and the National Employment Bureau (NEB) of the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Human Resource Development.

Meanwhile, opportunities continue to arise for persons desirous of working in Canada. The NEB is recruiting Barbadians for positions in the hotel, fast food and vehicle maintenance sectors. Short and long term contracts are available in the hotel sector for cafeteria attendants, second cooks, stewards, banquet servers, bartenders, in-room dining servers, housekeepers and male spa attendants.

In the fast food category, jobs are available for food counter attendants and maintenance/janitorial staff, while in vehicle maintenance, there are vacancies for forklift drivers, lube technicians and agricultural mechanics.

Previous experience is essential and persons interested in being shortlisted are asked to visit the NEB, 1st Floor, Warrens Office Complex, Warrens, St. Michael, before Friday, November 15.
