Barbadians will get an opportunity to find out what is contained in the State of the World Population 2008 Report when it is launched during a town hall meeting next Tuesday, November 18.

It will be held at St. Gabriel’s School, Henry’s Lane, Collymore Rock, St. Michael, and begins at 7:00 p.m.

The meeting is being hosted by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Family, Youth, Sports and Environment. The theme of this year’s report, which is published annually by UNFPA, is “Reaching Common Ground: Culture, Gender and Human Rights.”

Minister of Family, Dr. Esther Byer Suckoo, will deliver an address, and this will be followed by a theatrical presentation and panel discussion.  Panellists will be Member of Parliament, Hamilton Lashley; Actress, Varia Williams; Executive Director, Caribbean Policy Development Centre, Cecilia Babb; and youth advocate, Corey Lane.

Members of the public are invited to attend the town hall meeting.
