A number of traffic changes will be in effect on Wednesday, November 30, as Barbados celebrates its 50th Anniversary of Independence.

Between 6:00 and 11:00 a.m., Garrison Road will be one way only from Dalkeith to Hastings, with motorists keeping the Savannah to their right. However, public service vehicles will have normal access.

During these hours, no parking will be allowed along the parade route, except for the purpose of setting down or picking up passengers. These roads are: Garrison Road, Garrison Hill, Dalkeith Road, Dayrells Road, Bay Street and Hastings Road.

The Royal Barbados Police Force has also advised that all drivers of vehicles transporting persons to the Garrison Savannah observe parking regulations in the area.

Those driving vehicles marked “Y” in black on a white background should enter from the area in front of the Savannah Club (excluding the area in front of the Main Guard); while those bearing the identification mark “E” label in black on a yellow background should go in the area south east of the Savannah Club near Brigade House.

Those with the identification “LP” in black on a pink background should enter from the car park of the Barbados Light & Power Company Limited while vehicles identified by “GWH’ in black on a blue background should enter the car park of George Washington House.

Those driving vehicles marked “SH” in black on a green background should park on the compound of the Savannah Hotel; and drivers of vehicles bearing the identification mark “CC” in blue on a white background should park on the compound of the Corporate Centre on Bay Street at the junction with Bush Hill.

All drivers are advised to park as directed by the police officer in uniform. Any person who contravenes these rules or fails to comply with any order given by a member of the Royal Barbados Police Force in uniform commits an offence, and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of $500, or to imprisonment for a term of three months.
