Training will begin within four weeks for another group of persons who will be participating in the Division of Family’s Fifth Positive Parenting Skills Training of Trainers course.
Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., beginning July 25, and running until November 21. The training will be conducted in the main conference room of the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, Elsie Payne Complex, Constitution Road, St. Michael.??
Persons interested in being trained should immediately contact the Ministry of Family at telephone numbers 430-2914 or 430-2917. Community, sports and youth groups, as well as parents and Sunday school teachers are also encouraged to register.
This programme is aimed at developing a cadre of well trained and competent individuals who will deliver training to parents and prospective parents, so as to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to have healthy relationships with their children.
At the end, participants should be able to identify and utilise the positive parenting traits they have learnt in an effort to enhance the quality of family life across the island.
The five modules to be taught during the session are: Parenting; Coping and Managing; Finding Self; Seeking Help and Action Planning. A number of people have already been trained and some of them are delivering a series of seminars in the community on Positive Parenting Skills.
