A simulated rescue mission by the Barbados Fire Service. (FP)

With just over a week to go before the official start of Exercise TRADEWINDS 2017, volunteers and members of the public will have an opportunity to witness first- hand what it will entail.

The Volunteer to Make a Difference Expo comes off tomorrow, Saturday, May 27, in Queen’s Park, The City, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

It will showcase rescue techniques and disaster response, along with live demonstrations of moulaging. In addition, members of the public will have an opportunity to learn more about disaster management, and the role of various emergency response agencies during a disaster.

Personnel from the Exercise TRADEWINDS Secretariat, the Department of Emergency Management, the Barbados Defence Force, the Barbados Fire Service, the Barbados Ambulance Service and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency will be on hand to answer questions from the public.
