??Garrison Savannah Barbados.

Barbadians are being encouraged to participate in a walking tour of the Garrison on Saturday, June 23, and learn more about its rich history.

The guided tour, which will begin at 7:00 a.m., will include the former Ordinance Hospital which is now Geneva House; the former Brigade Major’s Quarters, now Brigade Medical House; St. Ann’s Fort which was called St. Ann’s Castle; Shot Hall, which is now the Barbados Yacht Club, and the Military Cemetery.

Participants should assemble at the Barbados Museum, the Garrison, St. Michael, before 7:00 a.m. An official of the Museum said spaces were limited and advised members of the public to reserve theirs by calling 427-0201 or emailing info@barbmuse.org.bb.

Later that day, at 9:00 a.m., the Museum will host a Crop Over Heritage Day, which will focus on the island’s sugar heritage, as well as explore the history of Barbados rum.

Visitors will be able to view a mini-exhibition of images and documents related to rum, as well as the Barbados Museum’s Crop Over Exhibition. They will also be able to feast on local culinary delights.

Admission to the Museum is free for locals and CARICOM nationals.??
