Intellectual property rights will be the main issue of import when the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) hosts a series of regional meetings in Barbados next week, at the Accra Beach Hotel, Hastings, Christ Church.

On Monday, March 28, and Tuesday, March 29, there will be a high level meeting on Copyright and Related Rights for Caribbean Countries; then on Wednesday, March 30, and Thursday, March 31, the Fourth Regional Consultation on Collective Management of Reprographic Reproduction Rights in the Caribbean will be held.????????????????????

The final meeting on Friday, April 1, which will be for the heads of regional intellectual property offices, will focus on the proposal for the establishment of a Regional Patent Administration.

Various entities have contributed to the hosting of the meetings; these include the Barbados Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office; the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organizations; and the Barbados Copyright Agency, Inc.?? The series will see the participation of WIPO Assistant Director General, Culture and Creative Industries Sector, Trevor Clarke, and other senior officials of the International Bureau of WIPO, regional consultants and representatives.
