Several local social workers stand to benefit when they participate in a three-day training seminar on Disaster Behaviour and Stress Management next week.

The seminar will be hosted by the Barbados Association of Professional Social Workers, in conjunction with the Department of Emergency Management and the Florida Association for Volunteer Action in the Caribbean and Americas, and takes place at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium from Wednesday, March 23, to Friday, March 25.

Social and Disaster Response Workers, Volunteers in Disaster Management, as well as Crisis Intervention Workers will meet and examine such issues as Behavioural Patterns in Disaster; Disaster Behavioural Health Basics; Behavioural Patterns in Disasters; Safety Function Action Strategies for Disaster Responders; and Survivors and Mental Health and Psycho-social Support in Disasters.
