The technical capacity of government ministries and agencies involved in the process of conceptualising and drafting technical regulations will soon be given a boost, thanks to a training workshop on Development and implementation of technical regulations and methods of referencing standards.
The three-day workshop, scheduled for Tuesday, November 1, at the Hilton Barbados Resort, is a venture between the Barbados National Standards Institution (BNSI) and the CARICOM Regional Organisation for Standards and Quality (CROSQ), in collaboration with the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States/European Union Technical Barriers to Trade (ACP EU TBT) Programme.
Facilitated by Charles Barker of the British Standards Institution, the ACP EU TBT Programme promotes the effective application of the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade Agreement, and seeks to assist ACP countries and their regional organisations in complying with TBT in external markets. It is financed by the European Union under the 10th European Development Fund.
Director of the BNSI, Anthea Ishmael; and CROSQ’s Chief Executive Officer, Deryck Omar, among other officials, will deliver remarks at the start of the workshop at 9:00 a.m.
