Minister of Youth, Family and Sports, Stephen Lashley, is disappointed with the "obscene calypso music" that has characterised this Crop-Over Season.??

He was at the time addressing the graduation ceremony of??The Lodge School last Saturday night at Grand Barbados Beach Resort. ??While speaking about the need for the positive development of the nation, he urged songwriters, performers and young people in general to "come clean".

"I am not impressed with some of this year’s calypsos," Mr. Lashley said. "And I speak of the lyrical content, which is, in some cases, obscene and overly sexually suggestive, and, in my view, not worthy of airplay. I would want to urge our songwriters and performers of calypsos to come clean during this season and project good examples to our youth in particular," he emphasied. lbayley@barbados.gov.bb
