The spotlight will be on 15 dance groups at the upcoming Community Dance Fest Finals.

The event, which will take place at the Wildey Gymasium on Saturday, January 22, will see performances by groups from northern and southern communities, as well as those from St. Michael North and South.

Competing in the junior section are: Olos, Israel Lovell Foundation Juniors, Tabia and Christ Church Girls’ Performing Arts Troupe. The Alexandra School Dancers, Higher Level, Xclusive, Mawd Squad, Xtra Hype, L&B Prodigy, Blue Tooth, Inside Out, Adrenalin, Praise Academy of Dance – New Era and J.D.I will contend in the adult category .

Community Dance Fest Coordinator, Tyrone Trotman, said that this year the groups were more competitive, and disclosed that "the quality of the work was so good and the points were so high" that some of the groups who were not selected for the finals were invited to perform at the event.

The Community Dance Fest is an initiative of the Community Development Department in the Ministry of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Community Development, in collaboration with the National Cultural Foundation, the Commission of Pan African Affairs, the Community Independence Celebrations Secretariat, and the Ministry of Family Culture, Sports and Youth.
