The Zone Finals of the Community Dance Fest, which begin next week, promise to be a showcase of unique local talent.

The first staging of the pre-finals judging will be held on Friday, December 2, at the Combermere School, Waterford, St. Michael, for the St. Michael North groups. On Saturday, December 3, the Southern zone will be judged at the Christ Church Foundation School, Church Hill, Christ Church.

Groups from the Northern zone will then compete at the Alexandra School on Monday, December 5, followed by the St Michael South dancers at the Combermere School on Tuesday, December 6.

Each final begins at 7:00 p.m. and the public is invited to come out and support the various groups from their respective zones at the different venues.

The 25 participating groups were selected to go on to this segment of the competition following the preliminaries which were held earlier this month. They include: Blu-Tooth Breakers; Praise Academy Promise; Base Control; Youth Uprising; and Higher Level.

Community Dance Fest is coordinated by the Community Development Department which operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Community Development. Currently in its sixth year, the theme of the initiative is Unleashing the Spirit of the Community.

The National Finals will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at the Wildey Gymnasium, Wildey, St. Michael.
