The public will have an opportunity to learn more about reducing, reusing, recycling and recovery when the Solid Waste Project Unit (SWPU) hosts its annual 4R’s Fair on Saturday, February 11. The event will be held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

SWPU Management Coordinator, Thora Lorde, explained that last year’s event "… was really well received, and we had quite a few people in attendance.?? There were prizes given to environmental stewards – communities and schools which had started recycling.?? There will be prizes offered again this year," she said, and she extended a special invitation to groups "to come out and learn more about greening their neighbourhoods."

Various entities will be present to offer information to persons who wish to introduce the ???4R’s’ into their lifestyles, including Ace Recycling, the Future Centre Trust and the Sustainable Barbados Recycling Centre.??

The fair, which is now in its fifth year, was created as a tool to educate the public about the positive effects that recycling and other sustainable actions could have on the environment.??
