Barbados has a second Master of the High Court. She is Heather Clarke, the former Registrar of Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office.
Earlier today at Government House, Ms. Clarke took the Oaths of Allegiance and Office before Governor General Dame Sandra Mason and Chief Justice of Barbados, Patterson Cheltenham.
“I see this [post] as another step in my profession, and I will do my best as I’ve always done. I’ve always work hard and will continue to do so,” Ms. Clarke commented, on taking up her new post.
The Master of the High Court is mainly responsible for case management. The individual serves as the intermediary between the registrar and judges, and has the same jurisdiction as a High Court Judge, but cannot sit in open court.
