Commerce Minister, Donville Inniss, has condemned Monday???s ???very unfortunate terrorist act??? in Brussels.
Speaking to reporters after a tour of Good Time Snacks in Grazettes Industrial Park, Mr. Inniss stated that it was ???something that all right thinking Barbadians must condemn, as we sympathise with those in Brussels who were affected by that act.???
He continued: ???It really continues to show us even here in Barbados that there really is no place of peace that we can take great comfort in today.
“What took place was a tragedy beyond what many of us can comprehend, not just in terms of the number of innocent people who lost their lives who were going about their daily activities??? but the dislocation and disruption that hit at the heart of the European Government, the EU, right there in Brussels.???
Maintaining that from this end in Barbados we must condemn such acts wherever they occurred, the Minister stressed that we could only continue to urge that common sense, and respect for people of different religions, colour and class, which have been at the bedrock of our Barbadian society, be extended around the world.
???On behalf of my Ministry and my family, I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to those in the EU capital of Brussels, and to remind Barbadians that we have a duty over here too to continue to be very vigilant and not to adopt an attitude that ???it can???t happen here???.
“And that is why we must lend all support to our partners in the EU and other parts of the world as they continue to battle these obviously very misguided and fanatical type people that exist in our midst,??? he contended.
