Matters relating to enhancing the existing trade relations between the Czech Republic and Barbados, as well as establishing links in education and tourism were among the areas discussed when Ambassador Edita Hrda, paid a courtesy call on Acting Prime Minister, Ronald Jones.

During the meeting at the Ministry of Education, Constitution Road, St. Michael, on Tuesday, he alluded to the role which the Czech Republic could play in the improvement of the island’s human resource capacity, particularly in the area of training.

"Barbados regards education as important to the development of our country … so our emphasis has been on human resource capacity building and I think that we have had some successes.?? So, where we can work with the Czech Republic on mutually sharing ideas on education and training, we will," Mr. Jones emphasised.

Ambassador Hrda also spoke of improved trade relations which would be boosted thanks to the signing of a Double Taxation Treaty between the two countries, yesterday.

"There are many businessmen who are coming here … and it [Agreement] is something that can be very useful to both countries," she stated.

Barbados and the Czech Republic established diplomatic relations on September 28, 1977.
