Approximately 100 students who are currently pursuing studies in Environmental Science and or Geography will soon learn more about the proposed amendment to the Physical Development Plan.

As part of the activities to observe World Town Planning Day on Wednesday, November 8, the Town and Country Development Planning Office will host a seminar on that day for those students at the National Union of Public Workers’ Auditorium, Dalkeith, St. Michael.

The focus of the presentation will be on the strategic policies relating to sustainable development, greening the economy, Natural Heritage, mobility and accessibility, land use and built form policies.

Participants will be drawn from Queen’s College, The Lodge School, Combermere, Christ Church Foundation School, The St. Michael School, Springer Memorial Secondary, the Seventh-day Adventist School, Graydon Sealy Secondary and the Barbados Community College.

On Friday, November 10, a Customer Appreciation Day will be held at Town Planning’s Block “C”, Garrison, St. Michael, office. The Diabetes Association of Barbados will undertake health checks for the staff and members of the public from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

World Town Planning Day is currently celebrated on November 8 in 30 countries across four continents.  It was observed from 1949 as a way to promote a better understanding and awareness of city planners and planning to the local community, as well as all levels of government.
