Approximately 120 sixth form students who are currently pursuing studies in Environmental Science and or Geography will soon learn about the IDB-sponsored Emerging and Sustainable Cities Initiative, with emphasis on the Greater Bridgetown Area.

The Town and Country Development Planning Office will host a seminar for students on Thursday, November 12, at the National Union of Public Workers??? Auditorium, Dalkeith, St. Michael, as part of activities to observe Town Planning Week.

The Ministry of Housing, Lands and Rural Development has been invited to make a presentation on Habitat Three during the session. Participants will be drawn from Harrison College, Queen???s College, The Lodge School, Combermere, Christ Church Foundation, The St. Michael School, and the Barbados Community College.

On Friday, November 13, Customer Appreciation Day will be held at Town Planning???s Block ???C???, Garrison, St. Michael, office. The Diabetes Association of Barbados will undertake health checks for the staff and members of the public from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.??A road tennis tournament for staff is currently being planned following the successful staging of the inaugural competition last year.

World Town Planning Day is celebrated on November 8, and this year???s theme is: Housing Regeneration ??? Strengthening Communities. The Day was founded in 1949 as a way to promote a better understanding and awareness of city planners and planning to the local community, as well as all levels of government. It is currently celebrated in 30 countries across four continents.
