Young Barbadians will have the opportunity to learn more about Our Freedom, Our Identity: Uncover, Recover, Discover, when the 8th Annual African Diaspora Heritage Trail (ADHT) Conference is held next month.

The event, which will be held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre from September 17 to 19, will feature various speakers and sessions, where conference delegates will be exposed to myriad themes relevant to the African Diaspora.????

One of these sessions will be a Youth Forum, which will take the form of round table discussions with community youth groups, secondary and tertiary school students across the island as well as an information session on the ADHT Foundation initiatives.

Tourism Development Officer, Marsha Armstrong, observed that the Forum would be "an excellent opportunity for our young people to learn, understand and explore the many opportunities available to them in the African Diaspora. The Ministry of Tourism is very pleased to be hosting this segment which will provide an opportunity for them to express their views and opinions on issues relating to their African Heritage."

Ms. Armstrong explained that topics to be addressed would include The Image of Africa among Black Youth and The Business of African Heritage.???? She also noted that Junior Minister of Tourism 2012, Christopher Morgan, would attend the session.

The Tourism Development Officer encouraged the island’s youth to participate in what promised to be a learning experience, and called on "youth leaders, community organisations, public and private secondary schools, tertiary institutions and youth pursuing studies in culture, history, tourism and destination management to attend the session. There will be a special conference registration fee of BDS $300 for young people attending all conference sessions. For the Youth Forum, admission is free for the first two persons from each community group and school and there will be a $60 fee for all other participants in this session."
