The Advisory Committee to Guide the Establishment of a Commission for Improving the Lives of Persons with Disabilities is currently engaging in a series of consultations with all of the Ministries of Government, the organisations serving the interest of Persons with Disabilities and organisations comprising the Social Partnership.

Following these consultations, three town hall meetings will be held during September to invite the general public to present proposals to the Advisory Committee, both in person and virtually.

The public is therefore invited to submit written memoranda proposing policy and legislative reform relating to and designed to improve the lives of Persons with Disabilities. These submissions should be sent to the email address inclusion@barbados.gov.bb by September 30.

The Advisory Committee to Guide the Establishment of a Commission for Improving the Lives of Persons with Disabilities was established on June 1, 2022 by the Cabinet of Barbados.

It is chaired by Member of Parliament Edmund G. Hinkson. The Committee’s mandate is to formulate a draft National Policy and draft Legislation on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities as well as to advise on the Establishment of a Commission for Improving the Lives of Persons with Disabilities.
