A Tropical Storm Warning reamins in effect for Barbados.??A Tropical Storm Warning means that Topical Storm conditions are expected within the warning area???in this case within 18 to 30 hours.

At 2:00 p.m. the centre of Chantal was located near 11.3??N ??52.8??W or about 470 miles???760 km to the east southeast of Barbados. Chantal is moving towards the west north west at 25 mph???41 km/h and this same rapid west northwestward motion is expected during the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds are now near 45 mph??? 75 km/h with higher gusts. Tropical storm force winds extend outwards up to 60 miles from the centre. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb???29.68 inches.

On the present track the centre of Chantal is forecasted to pass within 50 miles to the north of Barbados early on Tuesday morning. However, conditions will begin to deteriorate beyond midnight during which time some moderate to heavy showers, scattered thunderstorms and winds gusting to storm force will start to affect the island.
