Students of the Bay Primary School will celebrate African Awareness Day, tomorrow, Wednesday, February 26.

Activities will start with a presentation by Miriam Hinds of the Barbados Drug Service on the similarities between Africa and Barbados. It will take place at 9:15 a.m. at the school???s Bay Gardens, St. Michael location.

Following this, at 9:45 a.m., pupils will take to the streets and parade in African garb from the school onto Beckles Road and surrounding districts, with a return to the school. They will then be treated to demonstrations of the Mother Sally, Tuk Band, Limbo dancing and the Shaggy Bear.

Events will culminate in the afternoon beginning at 1:30 p.m., when Historian Dr. Nancy Jacobs examines the topic Transatlantic Voyage and Early Slavery.
