Business owners are being encouraged to join with the Ministry of Transport and Works, and the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), to transform Bridgetown at night.
Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite issued the call as he addressed the BCCI???s monthly lunchtime lecture at Hilton Barbados yesterday, with just weeks to go before the 2014 Christmas season.
??????In your planning over the next couple of weeks take the whole issue of crime and security a bit more seriously. I mean from a holistic perspective,??? he stated.
That, he added, involved not just addressing issues relating to shoplifters and the activities of staff, but ensuring that security measures were in place to also protect staff and customers.
The Minister noted that while he liked the shopping experience at night, it was not safe to traverse some areas. ???[So] I want to signal my support for this initiative and see how best we can do it. It is in your interest and in the interest of all Barbadians,??? Mr. Brathwaite contended.
