The Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Resource Management has advised that it was not responsible for the fire burning on its compound for the past few days.

A representative from the Ministry said that the fire may have originally started as a result of spontaneous combustion caused by the prolonged dry season the country is presently experiencing.

Currently, the Ministry is collaborating with the Barbados Fire Service to extinguish all fires that may arise on the compound.
