Barbados’ biggest agricultural exhibition, Agrofest, has gotten even bigger with some 250 exhibits expected to be on display in Queen’s Park later this month.

The event is being held under the theme "Achieving Healthy Lifestyles through Agriculture" and will run from February 25 – 27.

Coordinator, Thedore Fraser, revealed that Agrofest 2011 was shaping up to be "one of the best ever" with the number of exhibitors increased from 2010, and even more Barbadians showing an interest in the seven year old event.

He has also extended a special invitation to visitors to the island to come to Queen’s Park and sample firsthand the best of local culture, cuisine and craft.

Exhibits Coordinator, Saunjean Cutting, said registration for animal shows had been "going quite well" with several persons signing up for the various shows – 118 for sheep, 54 for goats and 26 for beef.

She added that there were still openings for dairy animals and urged interested persons to contact the Barbados Agricultural Society (BAS) as soon as possible to register.

The exhibition will be open to school children on Friday, February 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; and from 4:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. for the general public. Events scheduled for that day include the Enlarged Bird Show, the Lime Contact Band, Pork Lime, and the Royal Barbados Police Force Floodlight Tattoo.

On Saturday, February 26, the showcase will run from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and the highlights of the day include the Livestock Shows and ???The Best of Crop Over Live In Concert’.

Events scheduled for Sunday, February 27, include the Plantation Breakfast, Gymkhana and Agility Dog Show, the Goat Show, and An Evening of Gospel. On that day, the exhibition will be open from 8:00 a.m. and close at 9:00 p.m.
