Two local crops will receive added attention when the Ministry of Agriculture launches a culinary competition, as well as one for integrated projects that focuses on the Breadfruit and the Cassava as part of this year’s Agrofest.

The culinary arts competition targets two categories: secondary school students between the ages of 12 and 14 and 15 and 17; as well as adults 18 years and over.

Entries will be judged based on the use of recipes with breadfruit or cassava as the main ingredients. Individuals may also submit entries in one or more of four categories: appetizer, main course, dessert, and beverage.

In terms of the Agrofest Primary School’s competition, students will be judged on integrated projects which utilise breadfruit or cassava as the main theme.

Projects should incorporate all four of the following components:  Language Arts (Poetry and Creative Writing’, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, NULL, NULL, 0); Social Studies (History/Origin, Usage – Past &Present’, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, NULL, NULL, 0); Integrated Science (Conditions for growth, what part of the plant’, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, NULL, NULL, 0); Creative Arts (Visual Arts e.g. drawing and painting; craft – e.g. Papier Mache’, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, NULL, NULL, 0); and Music – pre-recorded jingles.
