All plans are in place for the Project S.O.F.T. (Safeguarding Our Future Today) 2020 summer camp, being hosted by the National Council on Substance Abuse.

Now in its 18th year, the one-week day camp will get under way from Monday, August 24, and run until Friday, August 28, under the theme: Better Knowledge for Better Care, at the Eastern Caribbean Bible Camp, at Ruby, St. Philip.

Catering to 40 children who sat this year’s Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examination, the camp is designed to prepare children and their families for entry into secondary school, by discussing the multiple life challenges they are likely to face at school and as they transition into teenagers.

The children will also be exposed to a wide variety of life skills, including effective communication, values, etiquette, relationship building and self-discipline.

The topics to be covered include: controlling your anger, staying drug-free, bullying in school, and drug refusal skills.  They will also learn about stress management and effective communication.
