"From Country to Town…All Uh We is One", will be the theme, when the Ministry of Community Development and Culture officially launches the annual Community Independence Celebrations, next Saturday, August 29, at 5:30 pm at the Jackie Opel Amphitheatre, General Post Office, Bridgetown.

According to National Coordinator of the Community Independence Celebrations Secretariat, Curtis Gibbons, next week’s launch aims to sensitise Barbadians about ??the national event, officially launch the programme of activities, as well as introduce the Parish Ambassadors, Independence Committees and Attendants to the public.

Mr. Gibbons was speaking at this morning’s presentation ceremony, which saw three private sector agencies; Goddard’s Enterprises Limited, Insurance Corporation of Barbados and Carter’s, donating a total of $21,000 to the Secretariat.

In addressing the ceremony, Minister of Community Development and Culture, Steve Blackett thanked sponsors for their contribution and stressed the importance of multi-sectoral collaboration.

The Culture Minister added that this year’s Community Independence Celebrations should augur well for the further development of community mindedness, as it continued to play its part in the unifying of communities across Barbados.
