Barbados’ Ambassador to CARICOM. Denis Kellman

This country’s Ambassador to CARICOM, Denis Kellman, today presented his credentials to CARICOM’s Secretary General, Dr. Edwin Carrington, at a ceremony at the CARICOM headquarters in Georgetown, Guyana.

In his remarks, Ambassador Kellman underlined Barbados’ commitment to the regional integration process and emphasised that it had been a cornerstone of its foreign policy since independence.

He also commented on the discussion going on in the region relating to food security. With reference to the June 6 to 8 Regional Agriculture Investment Forum, he said that it was a great opportunity for the region to make the most of the competitive advantage of its member states.

“Clearly, countries such as Guyana and others can play a key part in enhancing the region’s food security, creating sustainable livelihoods and addressing the growing concerns regarding the cost of living in general and the cost of food in particular,” he opined.

Secretary-General Carrington lauded the contribution made by Barbados to CARICOM and the critical role it presently plays in the implementation of the CSME.
