In an effort to hone and develop teamwork and leadership skills among the 2008 Parish Ambassadors and their attendants, the Community Independence Celebrations Secretariat (CICS) will host a retreat this weekend at St. Luke’s Primary School, Brighton, St. George.

The retreat, is scheduled to take place from tomorrow, Friday, August 8 to Sunday, August 10.

It will provide a practical outlet for those concepts taught during the Parish Ambassador training sessions and build strong community linkages.

The activities include a hike on Saturday, August 9, which will be conducted by the Barbados Cadet Corps. Participants will leave camp at 5:30 a.m. and return at 8:00 a.m.

Later in the day, the Parish Ambassadors and their attendents will demonstrate their community spiritedness with visits to the Thelma Vaughan Memorial Home, Elder Care Retirement Home and Achaizia Retirement Home. The day’s activities will culminate with a community Lime at A&J Bar, Malverton, St. George.

A church service will also be held at the St. Luke’s Anglican Church, St. George on Sunday, August 10 at 8:00 a.m. and a closing ceremony on the same day at St. Luke’s Primary School at 4:30 p.m.
