Ancillary workers from the Health Ministry, as well as hotels, fast food establishments and others with links to the hospitality industry will be the target of the second one-day sensitisation workshop on vector control to be hosted by the Environmental Health Division next week.

The training will be conducted on Wednesday, June 9, in the Environmental Health Training Room at Jemmott’s Lane.

??It will place emphasis on enhancing participants’ knowledge about rodents and mosquitoes; ways to prevent associated diseases in their establishments and how to provide a cleaner and safer environment.

Environmental health officers will also give demonstrations on the use of the fogging machine; how to recognise mosquito larvae and eggs under a microscope; the use of the black lamp for identifying rodent urine as well as the servicing of bait stations for the control of rodents.

??The session gets under way from 9:00 a.m. and will be facilitated by Senior Environmental Health Officer, Maurice Gaskin and a team from the Division.??jgill@barbados.gov.bb
