Students from the Ann Hill School, located at Pine Plantation Road, will feature prominently at the showing of Soft Dumplings In My Rice, a play slated for The St. Michael School Auditorium, Martindales Road, St. Michael this Saturday, September 24, and Sunday, September 25.

The school, which provides education to children with special needs, teaching them to cope with varying disabilities and preparing them for life and work, where possible, will showcase its choir’s talent and skills during the play.

"Within the play’s three scenes music will be provided by the Ann Hill Choir, an 11-strong group that blends the voices of children and their teachers with music played by past student Corey Hunte, who though not formally trained in the discipline, is gifted enough to hear and find the appropriate chord on the keyboard," teacher at the school Cathy-Ann St. Hill explained.

Soft Dumplings In My Rice, an Ashoa Production is being held under the patronage of Member of Parliament, Hamilton Lashley. The play is a depiction of some of the issues facing Barbados against a backdrop of our cultural norms and things Barbadianna. It will feature actors Paul Puckering, Norma Walcott, Maxcene Prescott King, Esther Husbands and Cherieda Phillips.

A key aim of the play is to raise funds for the Ann Hill School to assist its many programmes that include leather craft, ceramics, jewelry and basketry.????
