The Government of Japan is inviting Barbadian students to submit applications for its 2018 Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Scholarship, to pursue postgraduate research studies at Japanese universities.

The postgraduate (Research Students) programme will run for one-and-a-half to two years in non-degree research study, and will include six months of intensive Japanese language training. However, this duration can be extended to those permitted to enroll in a Master’s, Doctoral or Professional Graduate Course.

Applicants must be Barbadian nationals under the age of 35 (born on or after April 2, 1983); possess a university degree; and be willing to learn Japanese for six months at the beginning of the research study.

Successful applicants will receive a monthly stipend, paid tuition and other fees, as well as one return air ticket, and may choose to begin their studies in April or September/October 2018.

Application forms are available from the Embassy of Japan, Office A, “Mars House”, 13 Pine Road, St. Michael, and will also be available soon on the Embassy’s website. The deadline for entries is Monday, June 5.
