Barbadians can now apply for the Organization of American States??? (OAS) Scholarships for Undergraduate and Graduate Academic Studies 2017.

The Division of Economic Affairs has advised that the deadline for applications is Thursday, March 31.

Applicants should submit the relevant information to Richelle Gaskin of the Economic Affairs Division, Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, 3rd Floor East, Warrens Office Complex, Warrens, St. Michael.

Candidates must be citizens or permanent residents of Barbados; possess the necessary educational background and professional experience to be accepted into the academic programme identified; and have the physical capacity and academic aptitude to complete the programme successfully.

In addition, those applying for an OAS-placed scholarship may be required to take admission tests (GRE or GMAT) if necessitated by the academic institution they wish to attend. They must also provide evidence of satisfactory scores on those tests to the OAS within the dates indicated by the Organization upon the award of the scholarship.

Prospective applicants, however, are encouraged to make appropriate arrangements to take these tests as soon as possible and submit the scores with their application package to the Division of Economic Affairs, on or before the deadline. Any and all costs for the tests will be borne by the candidate.

The OAS-placed scholarship award will be withdrawn from any candidate for whom, after a reasonable period, admission cannot be gained to a reputable university offering the programme and level of studies sought.

Scholarship recipients must agree to return to reside in the sponsoring country for a period of no less than two years after completing the programme of study.??For additional information, applicants should call Ms. Gaskin at 310-1323, or visit the OAS Scholarship website at www.oas.org/scholarships.??
