Barbadians between the ages of 16 and 20 are being encouraged to apply for a scholarship provided annually by the Rotary Club of Barbados West, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation.

The scholarship is financed by funds raised from The Rotary West Diamonds International Sandy Lane Golf Classic.

It is being offered for a course of study at a recognised tertiary institution in the Caribbean beginning in the 2015/2016 academic year.

It will be given in the form of an educational grant of up to BDS$7,000 per year, or up to a total of $21,000 over the duration of the course of study being undertaken.

Applicants must be citizens of Barbados who would have completed secondary school or sixth form level education, or the Barbados Community College (Associate Degree) at the end of the 2014/2015 academic year.

They should be accepted by the recognised tertiary institution and must show evidence of good academic performance, as well as evidence of financial need. Special consideration will be given to areas of study which are considered of high priority to the development of Barbados.

Applications forms and further information may be obtained from the Tertiary Section of the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Elsie Payne Complex, Constitution Road, St. Michael. Forms must be submitted along with curricula vitae to the Tertiary Section, through the Principal of the school/institution last attended by the applicants.

The deadline for submission is no later than Friday, June 26.??The successful candidate will be required to enter a bond to work in Barbados for one year in respect of each year of the course of study.
