Low-income families who are interested in undertaking minor repairs or renovations to their homes should visit the Ministry of Housing and Lands, by Monday, April 22, to apply for the Incremental Home Construction Programme which is being offered.

Families with low-incomes are those with a combined monthly income of $2,666.

The initiative, a component of the Ministry’s Housing and Neighbourhood Upgrading Programme (HNUP), offers grants of a maximum of $10,000 or 90 percent of the cost of the project, to homeowners seeking to make upgrades to their homes. The funds may be used for various improvements including tiling or installation of cabinetry, windows, doors, electrical and plumbing fixtures.

To apply, or to obtain further information, interested persons may visit the Ministry at the National Housing Corporation Building, Country Road, St. Michael, Mondays to Fridays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Representatives from the HNUP will also be in office on Saturday, April 20, from 9:00 a.m. to noon to facilitate applicants.

To date, 136 families have benefited from the Incremental Home Construction Programme, with another 314 families scheduled to receive assistance by December this year.
