Building National Pride: A Healthier You, A Healthier Barbados is the theme for this year’s community independence activities.(FP)

April has been designated parish month for Christ Church and residents of that district are being urged to support activities planned by the Christ Church Parish Independence Committee.

National Co-ordinator of the Community Independence Celebrations Secretariat (CICS), Curtis Gibbons said that in an effort to sensitise Barbadians about the importance of independence, each parish has been assigned a month to highlight the uniqueness of their district.

Mr. Gibbons noted that this was being done under the theme Building National Pride: A Healthier You, A Healthier Barbados.?? He further explained that each parish committee would implement community activities based on that theme.?? These interventions would be judged and the winning parish would be revealed at the Spirit of the Nation Show in November later this year.

The activities for Christ Church will commence with a Church Service at Sergeants Wesleyan Holiness on Sunday, April 7, at 10:00 a.m.

Veteran visual artist, Mr. Fielding Babb, will conduct the Treasures of Christ Church Lecture Series, on Thursday, April 11, at the St. Matthias Anglican Church Annex beginning at 7:00 p.m.

A recreational "lime" will be held on Saturday, April 13, at 9:00 p.m.?? at Caribbean Vybes, Hastings.?? The "Wat Uh Ting" Parish Talent Show is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, at Divi Southwinds, St. Lawrence Main Road.

Parish Ambassadors, Shaniqua Trotman and Anthony King, will launch the Parish Project at St. Matthias Anglican Church on Sunday, April 21, beginning at 4:00 p.m.

In keeping with the CICS’ focus on health, the Christ Church Parish Independence Committee will host a health walk at Brandons Beach, St. Michael, on Saturday, April 27, beginning at 6:00 a.m.??
