Wheelchair and prosthesis users are being encouraged to participate in Aquatic Day activities on Browne’s Beach, Bay Street, St. Michael, tomorrow, Wednesday, December 30.

??The National Disabilities Unit, in association with the National Conservation Commission, the Barbados Coast Guard and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s Rehabilitation Department, will be hosting the event, which will run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Persons being urged to "come out and enjoy the fun day" include those with newly acquired disabilities, those who are recovering from strokes and various medical problems, and those who lack the necessary support systems at home to accommodate sea bathing and other water activity.

The Aquatic Activities Programme enables those persons with disabilities, who would normally be ???house-bound’, the opportunity to enjoy sea bathing and boating exercises, so as to improve their motor skills and coordination, thereby increasing their self confidence. saustin@barbados.gov.bb
