The Arch Hall Fire Station, in St. Thomas, was closed on Monday, January 13 to facilitate the construction of a Training School Annex on the existing structure.

According to Chief Fire Officer of the Barbados Fire Service (BFS), Wilfred Marshall, the nature of the work does not allow fire officers to co-exist in a comfortable and safe manner to serve the public from that location. As a result, he added, they were re-assigned to other stations across the island in the interim.

Meanwhile, Mr. Marshall is urging the public not to allow the closure of the station to serve as a distraction, but as an impetus to all residents to remain vigilant about fire safety, other hazardous conditions, and commit to deliberate risk reduction.

He also gave the assurance that the BFS remained committed to serving the public with the same level of urgency and devotion to customer service.

Any person seeking information or making a business-related request may direct such to the BFS??? headquarters at telephone numbers 421-8660, 426-3504 or 426-3509.

Any inconvenience this closure may cause is regretted.
