The Arch Hall Fire Station. (BFS)

The long awaited Barbados Fire Academy is set to open its doors next week, while the Arch Hall Fire Station has already reopened its doors.

Chief Fire Officer, Errol Maynard, said the St. Thomas-based station was reopened on Wednesday, but noted that the transition to the Arch Hall Fire Station was still ongoing.

The official ceremony for the reopening of the Arch Hall Fire Station and opening of the Barbados Fire Academy, will take place on Friday, May 19, at the Arch Hall, St. Thomas facility at 3:00 p.m.  Minister of Home Affairs, Adriel Brathwaite, and Mr. Maynard will address the opening.

Persons may reach the Arch Hall Fire Station by calling 535-7901 or 535-7902, or the emergency number 311. Alternatively, they may also call the Bridgetown Fire Station at 538-7825 or 535-7804 for assistance.

Mr. Maynard explained that the Arch Hall Fire Station would service parishes in the northern part of the island and would have two appliances at its base.  Meanwhile, the St. James Fire Station will remain closed until further notice.

The Arch Hall Fire Station was closed in January 2014 for renovations.
